Daily Note

(DAY 1293) Nara and the Deer

Quick Context

In one line

Nara’s Buddha temple and deer made for a touristy but absolutely worthwhile day trip.

Daily Note

We took a day trip to Nara and visited the beautiful Buddha temple.

The deer are such a strong part of Nara’s identity. It was wonderful seeing so many of them living within the city and being protected there. They are not just an incidental sight; they are part of what makes Nara feel like Nara.

Nara is touristy, of course, but I still found it absolutely worth visiting. The temple, the deer, and the experience of walking through the city came together into a memorable day.

Some places are popular for good reason. Nara was one of them for me.
