Kowloon and Hong Kong reminded me of Mumbai, and I enjoyed experiencing the city on foot and from the water.
Hong Kong, particularly Kowloon, reminded me a lot of Mumbai.
There was a personal familiarity in that connection. The city was dense, active, and full of movement, but it was also a place I enjoyed simply experiencing rather than trying to understand all at once.
We took the ferry, walked around Central, ate, and explored the city. Hong Kong was fun on foot and from the water. Moving between those two perspectives made the city feel layered in a way I found enjoyable.
The comparison with Mumbai is only my own impression, but it made Hong Kong easier to connect with. It did not feel completely foreign. There was enough familiarity in the energy to make the exploration comfortable, while the city itself remained new.
Hong Kong was a very good beginning to the trip.
