(DAY 1104) When Holika Dahan and Holi Pause for a Day

This time, Holika Dahan and color Holi are not on consecutive days, and that itself feels meaningful.

2nd March was Holika Dahan, and 4th March is color Holi. That one-day pause in between has given the festival a slightly different rhythm than usual.

Most years, these two moments come almost back-to-back in experience, so you move quickly from the symbolic burning of negativity to the high-energy celebration of colors. This year, the gap creates space to absorb the meaning of Holika Dahan before stepping into the joy and chaos of Holi.

I find that quite beautiful, and in many ways it reflects how the Hindu calendar works with its own logic, pace, and traditional calculations. It does not always align neatly with the English (traditional) calendar, and that difference is exactly what makes these festivals feel alive rather than mechanical.

Reflection first, celebration next — this year’s sequence made the whole festival feel deeper and more memorable.
