Quick health update: probable nerve pinch in my right hand — time to slow down and rest.
Over the last few days I’ve noticed increasing discomfort in my right hand and wrist. There’s a sharp, pinching sensation at times that feels like a nerve being irritated — likely from overload. I also had a slight pain in the elbow region (similar to tennis elbow) which, combined with the wrist pain, made yesterday particularly bad and I couldn’t sleep well.
After a long chat with various GPT models and thinking through conservative options, I’ve decided to make a few immediate changes to help recovery:
- Switch to using the mouse with my left hand for the foreseeable short-term.
- Prioritise more sleep and better rest — sleep first, work second for the next couple of weeks.
- Pause my calorie-deficit for two weeks so my body has more resources to recover.
- No more cricket or lifting for now — avoid high-impact or repetitive strain activities.
These are intentionally small, reversible changes meant to reduce load on the affected area and give the nerve a chance to calm down. I’ll monitor symptoms closely — if things don’t improve, I’ll see a clinician.
Nothing dramatic, but a reminder to listen to the body and take preventive steps early. I’ll keep notes here about how the left-handed mouse and extra rest go.
